The award-winning C.H.E.E.S.E. Project reveals energy waste from homes by using low-cost interior thermal imaging surveys. The aims are to reduce fuel poverty and carbon footprints to mitigate climate change. Surveys require cold weather, so are carried out from November to end March, they are free to low income families. Begun in 2014 with funding from Bristol Green Capital the Project has developed and expanded its unique survey method over 4 seasons with highly successful results. Three quarters of those surveyed take remedial action within three months and landlords (including the Council) are persuaded to improve properties.
The Project is recruiting a Survey Manager to convert enquiries into bookings and then manage them and the paid surveyors: including payment, scheduling, data entry, logistics for equipment, trouble-shooting and assistance with book-keeping, training and publicity. Since surveys depend on householders’ and surveyors’ availability, many are carried out during evenings and weekends. Occasional evening and weekend work is thus necessary.
